Meet the Governors

  • The Governing Body and the Headteacher share responsibility for the strategic management of the school, acting within the framework set by legislation and by policies of the Local Authority. The Headteacher has full responsibility for the internal management of the school.

  • The Governing Body meets at least once a term, usually more frequently. In addition, sub-committees meet regularly to discuss specific issues.  They report to the full Governing Body for formal ratification of proposals.

  • The minutes of Governing Body meetings are available from the clerk to governors: Mrs Cath Lewis-Davies at Rhydypenau Primary School.

Governor Partnerships

Many governors have a partnership with a class of children. They move up each year, following the children into the next year group.

Nursery - Mr Craig Jones, Mr Naveed Mohamed

Reception - Mr Peter O’Neil

Year 1 - Mrs Anne Gee, Mr David Hassey

Year 2 - Mrs Judith Jeffreys

Year 3 - Mrs Nonny Matthewson

Year 4 - Mrs Sue Morgan

Year 5 - Councillor Kate Lloyd

Year 6 - Mrs Beth Stephens

These governors visit the school regularly to work alongside teachers in their chosen year group.  Working in this way they develop a clearer idea of how our school works, forge stronger links with teachers and develop lasting relationships with children.

Some governors have expressed a particular interest in an area of the curriculum:

Cllr Kate Lloyd is the Governor with particular interest in Welsh.

Mrs Nonny Matthewson is the Governor with particular interest in Child Protection and Special Needs.

Mrs Anne Gee is the Governor with particular interest in the Forest School.

Governors who do not have a specific link with classes, offer their skills and expertise in a range of initiatives to support the school.
