Neighbourhood Watch

Today we went to explore Roath to see what is the same and different in comparison to our local neighbourhood.  We took photographs and looked and listened carefully as we walked.

When we returned to school we planned for a piece of recount writing explaining what we did, making good use of time connectives.

Being busy about our neighbourhood

Today Mrs Jones came to visit us to tell us all about her trip to Nepal. A few years ago she went out to see our partner school in Ling Ling and came back with photographs and information about the school and area.  Life is very different there!

We learnt about the similarities and differences between Ling Ling school and our school and thought about what life might be like there.

Neighbourhood Walk

We began began our new context today with a walk around our neighbourhood.

We used maps to follow a route and on the way we looked, listened and made observations.

When we returned to school we worked in groups to chalk a map of our walk

onto the year 2 outside area.

Just before we finished we took a look at the maps other groups had made and then went back to add more things to our own.  Then we sat and discussed what we found easy during this task and what was more of a challenge.
