Criw Cymraeg

Criw Cymraeg is a pupil voice group who are instrumental in leading the Siarter Iaith Cymraeg Campus Charter at Rhydypenau. Their goal is to encourage everyone to speak Welsh and to  promote a strong Welsh ethos throughout our school. Criw Cymraeg have developed a Welsh action plan and they meet fortnightly to work on this. The Criw are crucial in encouraging a love for the Welsh language and creating a sense of Cynefin.

Some of Criw Cymraeg’s key responsibilities include: leading weekly Welsh assemblies, giving awards to children for speaking Welsh, planning whole-school events such as our School Eisteddfod and Dydd Santes Dwynwen, as well as supporting younger year groups with Welsh reading and much more!

Meet our Criw Cymraeg 2024-25!

I will always help anyone with their Welsh if they ask or seem like they need help. I will always listen to you when you have any ideas. I always try to be positive no matter what’s on my mind. I am organised, so whenever we have a meeting I am always on time. If we were to say anything in Welsh, I would be confident with the words I say. We do a Welsh certificate every Thursday, and I am always confident to speak out to give the person I have chosen a big well done.    My aims for  Criw Cymraeg                                                                                                                           My aim is to encourage everyone in this school to speak Welsh and to try their best because Welsh is our home language and I think we should try to speak more Welsh. I also think we should make our school feel more Welsh. We also give mention of Welsh celebrations and we in our assemblies, so I think we should do a bit more than just a shout out although we do our own Eisteddfod with the houses of Penfro, Cowny, Harlech and Raglan. I would like to help out though, with some of the events.
