Knit-Wits

Knit-Wits is a lunchtime club for year 1 children.

We learn French knitting, which makes a long cord of wool.

It's really relaxing, and gives us a chance to have a good natter!

We use wooden mushrooms, but there are many other things that you can use.

Here are some pictures of our knitting projects.  We made christmas decorations to uniquely accessorise our christmas trees!

We meet on Monday lunchtimes.  If you are interested in joining, please see Mrs Stout or ask in the school office.  There may be a waiting list, but we'll try to make sure that everyone has a go throughout the year.

The current record for the longest Knit-Wits french knitted cord is held by...

Nirushni's knitting was impressively long!

Fancy a challenge?  How long can you make yours?

These pictures are of projects that children have made in previous years.

We have made flowers to accessorise our belts, handbags and headbands!

Look how long our projects are!

Take a look at some of these projects to inspire you.  Can you think of more things we could make with our French knitting?

How To: French Knitting

Simple video on how to use a French Knitting Bee. I found this cute little spool knitter very easy to use, this video was shot on my first attempt so I am quite slow (and a little shakey haha!) but after a few minutes of practice it becomes very quick and fluid.

There are lots of other videos you can watch to help.  Search around and see for yourself!
